Carbs are a bit confusing. The food industry seems to push a “low-carb diet.” But the truth is that we need carbs to survive. It is fair to say that some carbs are better than others and that a lower intake can lower your appetite and lead to great weight-loss. But it is something you must be educated about for it to work effectively.


The two major carbohydrates are simple and complex.


  1. Found in refined sugars

  2. Less sugarmolecules required to form a carb. Which means that it is absorbed faster. And will Make you hungry sooner

  3. Generally, in processed foods which have been stripped of their nutrients.


  1. Found in starch and fiber

  2. Made up of 100s-1000s of sugar molecules. Making it Harder to digest. Making you Stay full for longer

  3. Generally found in foods that are high in fiber + nutrients.

  4. Stimulates your metabolism

As you can see, complex carbs are much better for you. So instead of a “low-carb diet,” try eating less simple carbs!

Instead of this :

  1. Baked goods

  2. Cookies

  3. Soda / Energy drinks

  4. Ice Cream

  5. Fruit juice concentrate

Eat this :

  1. Most fruit

  2. Green vegetables

  3. Starchy vegetables

  4. Beans, lentil ,peas

  5. Whole grains
