A lot of us don’t have the luxury of time to investigate everything we put into our bodies. A pre-made “diet” meal may seem like a great option because it alludes to dieting but what does it entail? What do microwave meals do for us and why do they taste so good?

You’ve heard the term food addiction. Aren’t we all addicted to food? Don’t we all need it and crave it? Of course, we are human beings and food is our fuel. Food addiction is something else, it is an addiction to over consumption of the wrong foods.

Processed foods are designed with the primary goal to taste very good. This idea is called making the food hyperpalatable. Some examples of these foods are listed below:

  1. Cheese

  2. Chocolate

  3. Ice Cream

  4. Buttered popcorn

  5. Gummies

Manufacturers will intentionally pump these foods with chemicals and artificial ingredients. They cause our brain to feel a “reward.” When you eat a piece of processed sugar, your brain says: “Wow, that tasted so good, which feels so good, so it must be good for me.” But your body knows that it isn’t. Even foods like canned vegetables, granola bars, dried fruits, flavored nuts, and frozen meals contain secret chemicals and sugars.

Here’s a good rule of thumb: Avoid foods that contain ingredients that you can’t pronounce!

Always consult your physician before beginning any nutrition or fitness program, especially if you are currently being treated for any illness or medical condition, taking prescription medication, or following a doctor recommended diet.
